The Nu Couche
Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani created the painting which has broken the record of the most expensive pictures ever sold in the world. The painting sold for about $US157.5 Million. Scaling a length of 58 inches the painting was part of the 1971 exhibition that was part of the fine art nude.
American painter Jackson Pollock created this abstract piece of art. He is part of the expressionist movement and won the prize for the highest selling piece of art ever from 2006 till 2011. The art piece sold at $US140 million in 2006 and the record stood strong till 2011. Many people who have seen the painting often describe it as a bird’s nest. The art is just a cluster of random greys, browns, white with a few yellow streaks all together on a canvas like a web.
The Three Studies of Lucian Freud
The painting was created in the year 1969 and is a work that consists of oil on canvas. The artist is an Irish born, British Painter Francis Bacon. The art piece was sold at about $US 142.4 Millon in 2013 and held its high record till 2015. The piece is based on Francis Bacon’s Rival in the art world – Lucian Freud.
Adele Block-Bauer II
Gustav Klimt created the piece. It consists of a portrait of Adele Block-Bauer and Klimt was very inspired by her that he has painted her twice. The pieces were a proud hang in the family home of Gustav but were seized by the Nazis during the world war II. The paintings were stuck in a battle between Austria and the United States before they were finally returned to the niece of Ferdinand Block-Bauer in 2006. The painting was sold for $US150 million in the year 2014.
